Overview of the Internship Programme
The Electoral Commission (IEC) is offering a 24-month internship programme within the Electoral Matters division.
Programme Details:
- Position: Intern: Logistics

- Duration: 24 Months
- Stipend: R11,067.61 per month
- Location: Eastern Cape Provincial Office (East London)
This internship is designed to equip graduates with practical workplace skills in logistics and electoral operations.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will assist and gain training in the following areas:
Logistics & Electoral Operations:
- Drafting specifications
- Liaising with suppliers and service providers
- Warehousing and inventory management
- Material management
- Supporting by-elections and corporate elections
- Assisting Party Liaison Committee processes
- Supporting delimitation processes
- Assisting with electoral initiatives
Administrative Duties:
- Minute taking and report writing
- Preparing presentations
- Responding to routine enquiries
- Compiling and distributing documents
- Maintaining filing systems
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Coordinating meetings
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- A 3-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in:
- Logistics
- Warehouse Management
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Willingness to learn new systems and software
Advantage:
- Valid driver’s licence
Important Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Be unemployed
- Not have previously worked in their field of study
- Not have participated in an internship before
