Internship Overview
- Position: Fire Fighter Intern (Ref: MN4089/26)
- Duration: 3-Year Contract
- Salary: R8 786.54 per month (R105 438.48 per annum)
- Preference: Applicants from the Sedibeng Region
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Fire Fighter 1 & 2 with Hazmat Awareness and Operations (or equivalent)
- First Aid Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course
- Valid Code C Driver’s License
- Must be medically and physically fit
- Must be able to swim
- No phobias such as claustrophobia or acrophobia
- Knowledge or experience in fire and rescue will be an added advantage
- 3 months internship experience will be an added advantage
- Must be hardworking and self-disciplined
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Respond to daily operational tasks from the Station Officer
- Conduct routine checks on vehicles and firefighting equipment
- Clean and maintain equipment and vehicles
- Report faults and malfunctions
- Assist in firefighting operations with senior personnel
- Attend emergency incidents and rescue operations
- Fight grass, wildland, and structural fires
- Protect property and firefighting equipment
- Perform control room duties when required
- Follow all commands at emergency scenes
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by supervisors
