The University of South Africa (UNISA) has officially re-opened applications for the 2026 academic year, giving prospective students a second chance to secure admission at South Africa’s largest open distance learning institution.
This reopening applies to a limited selection of undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate diploma qualifications. If you missed the earlier application window, this is your final opportunity to apply before applications close.
Undergraduate Applications Re-Opened for 2026
Application Period
📅 3 November – 19 December 2025
UNISA has re-opened undergraduate applications for selected qualifications only. Not all programmes are available, so applicants must carefully check which qualifications are currently open before applying.
Students can apply for Bachelor’s Degrees, Diplomas, and Higher Certificates across the following UNISA colleges:
- College of Accounting Sciences
- College of Education
- College of Science, Engineering and Technology
- College of Human Sciences
- College of Law
- College of Economic and Management Sciences
Honours Degrees & Postgraduate Diplomas (2026 Intake)

📅 3 November – 19 December 2025
UNISA has also re-opened applications for selected Honours Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas.
These qualifications are ideal for students looking to:

Master’s & Doctoral Applications Still Open

📅 2 September – 21 November 2025
Applications for Master’s and Doctoral qualifications are currently open but will close sooner than undergraduate applications.
⚠️ Important: No late applications will be accepted for postgraduate research qualifications.
Students planning to pursue advanced research degrees should apply as soon as possible.
