Role Overview
University of the Western Cape (UWC), in partnership with W&RSETA, invites South African students to apply for the Administrative Internship Programme 2026.

This Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) internship provides students with practical workplace experience within the Wholesale & Retail Leadership Chair, supporting research, administration, and stakeholder coordination in the retail and business sector.
Internship Overview
- Position: Administrative Intern (TVET / CET)
- Organisation: University of the Western Cape (UWC) & W&RSETA
- Department: Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences
- Duration: Fixed-term contract
- Stipend: R9 000 per month
- Programme Type: Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)
This programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real workplace experience.
Purpose of the Internship
The internship focuses on:
- Administrative coordination
- Research support
- Stakeholder engagement
- Project and programme support
- Documentation and reporting
It supports entrepreneurship, transformation, and sustainability initiatives within the wholesale and retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Assist with office administration
- Maintain filing systems (electronic and physical)
- Prepare documentation and correspondence
Meeting Coordination
- Schedule meetings
- Prepare agendas and documents
- Take minutes and track action items
Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist with workshops and events
- Communicate with stakeholders
- Maintain contact databases
Data & Research Support
- Assist with surveys and data collection
- Organise research data
- Support research documentation
Reporting & Documentation
- Compile reports and presentations
- Assist with project documentation
- Prepare knowledge outputs
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a qualification in:
- Wholesale and Retail Management
- Business Administration
- Management
- Marketing
- Logistics
- Supply Chain Management
- Or related fields
Required Skills
- Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Good written and verbal communication
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Time management and attention to detail
Added Advantages
- Knowledge of wholesale and retail sector
- Exposure to research or data collection
- Understanding of higher education systems
- Familiarity with skills development frameworks
