This Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) internship provides students with practical workplace experience within the Wholesale & Retail Leadership Chair, supporting research, administration, and stakeholder coordination in the retail and business sector.

Internship Overview

  • Position: Administrative Intern (TVET / CET)
  • Organisation: University of the Western Cape (UWC) & W&RSETA
  • Department: Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences
  • Duration: Fixed-term contract
  • Stipend: R9 000 per month
  • Programme Type: Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)

This programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real workplace experience.

Purpose of the Internship

The internship focuses on:

  • Administrative coordination
  • Research support

It supports entrepreneurship, transformation, and sustainability initiatives within the wholesale and retail sector.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Assist with office administration
  • Maintain filing systems (electronic and physical)
  • Prepare documentation and correspondence

Meeting Coordination

  • Schedule meetings
  • Prepare agendas and documents
  • Take minutes and track action items

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Assist with workshops and events
  • Communicate with stakeholders
  • Maintain contact databases

Data & Research Support

  • Assist with surveys and data collection
  • Organise research data
  • Support research documentation

Reporting & Documentation

  • Compile reports and presentations
  • Assist with project documentation
  • Prepare knowledge outputs

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a qualification in:

  • Wholesale and Retail Management
  • Business Administration
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Logistics
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Or related fields

Required Skills

  • Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Time management and attention to detail
