Internship Overview

The NDZ Municipality Internship Programme 2025/2026 is a 12-month structured programme designed to provide graduates with practical experience in municipal finance, environmental management, and community services.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R5 000, while the Municipal Finance Management Intern receives R75 000 per annum.

1. Municipal Finance Management Intern (X1)

Department: Finance
Salary: R75 000 per annum

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma or Degree in Accounting or equivalent
• Communication skills (English & IsiZulu)
• Computer literacy

2. Data Cleanser Intern (X2)

Department: Finance

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Diploma or Degree in Financial Management, Accounting or related field

3. Revenue Cashier Intern (X1)

Department: Finance

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Financial-related qualification

4. Payroll / Expenditure Intern (X1)

Department: Finance

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Financial-related qualification

5. Environmental Management Intern (X1)

Department: Public Works & Basic Services

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management or related field

6. Pound Intern (X1)

Department: Community & Social Services

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture or related field

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be South African citizens
• Reside within the municipality’s jurisdiction
• Hold a relevant qualification for the position applied for
• Be unemployed
• Have good communication and computer skills

Key Learning Areas

Interns will gain exposure to:

• Budgeting and financial reporting
• Revenue and expenditure management
• Asset management
• Procurement and supply chain processes
• Environmental and municipal service delivery systems
